To commemorate one hundred years since the most infamous battle of the First World War the Arts Council commissioned British composer Laura Rossi to write music to accompany the 1916 film The Battle of the Somme. The project involves a live performance of the music to a showing of the film, with an aim of one hundred performances to be given between 16th July 2016 – 15th July 2017.

The Endcliffe Orchestra will perform just before the closing date of the project, on the 14th July, at the Abbeydale Picture House, Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, at 7pm. If enough orchestra members can be present in the afternoon then we will make an additional performance and involve local schools. We also hope that Laura Rossi will attend.

Full details will follow but we expect to offer tickets at £5, and any profits will be donated to a charity.
