To commemorate one hundred years since the most infamous battle of the First World War an Arts Council-funded project commissioned British composer Laura Rossi to write music to accompany the 1916 film The Battle of the Somme. The project involves a live performance of the music to a showing of the film, with an aim of one hundred performances to be given in the year following 16th July 2016.
The Endcliffe Orchestra will perform the work on the 14th July, at the Abbeydale Picture House, Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, at 7pm. If enough orchestra members can be present in the afternoon then we will make an additional performance and involve local schools. We also hope that Laura Rossi will attend.
Ticket prices are as follows:
Adult – £12.00
Under 16s – £6.00
Full details will follow shortly. The orchestra is delighted to be taking part in this memorable project. It has generated a lot of positive reaction in the dozens of performances seen around the country, and internationally. The Endcliffe Orchestra is making the only performance in Sheffield so don’t miss out!
