Winter Concert, December 2006

The orchestra performed a Charity Christmas concert at 7.45pm on Monday 18th December 2006 at Holy Trinity Church, Millhouses, Sheffield, conducted by Martin Lightowler.  Works performed were:

• Rhapsody on Christmas Carols by Claude T. Smith

• ‘Les Patineurs’ Waltz by Waldteufel

• ‘Sleigh Ride’ by Delius

• ‘St. Paul’s Suite’ for String Orchestra by Holst

• Three Dances for Brass Ensemble: Gaillarde, 'Pavan D'Angleterre', Basse Danse 'La Volunté' by Claude Gervaise

• ‘Troika’ from ‘Lt. Kije’ Suite by Prokofiev

• Three Christmas Carols: ‘Here we Come a-wassailing’, 'It Came Upon a Midnight Clear’, ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’ arr. David Good

Proceeds from this performance were shared equally between PACT – Parents Association of Children with Tumors and Leukaemia – and Endcliffe Orchestra funds.
