About our chosen Charity
Our chosen charity for this concert was The Cavendish Centre for Cancer Care.
Founded in 1992, the Cavendish Centre offers supportive care to people with cancer and their families, in a relaxed, non-hospital environment close to the centre of Sheffield. Patients are offered rapid access to a range of professional therapies, including counselling, reflexology, hypnotherapy, massage, acupuncture and aromatherapy.
A rise of 70% of people coming to the centre has occurred in the last 2 years, yet the Cavendish Centre still only sees about 10% of people with cancer in this South Yrokshire area with visitors coming from across Yorkshire as well as Derbyshire and North Notts.
The services provided are entirely free yet the Cavendish Centre receives very little NHS funding having to rely on donations and its own money-raising efforts.
