Development Programme
The Endcliffe Orchestra operates as a development ensemble with the objective of helping enthusiastic amateurs to return to orchestral music making or providing members with their first experience of playing in a large ensemble.
Our most recent development project was our second Amateur Chamber Music Weekend which took place in October 2007 and we are currently organising a Playday to take place on 5th July 2008.
In addition to the day-to-day activities of organising rehearsals and concerts, the committee, working closely with the conductor, plans a programme of varied events that provide insights for members into the skills and experiences of orchestral music making.
This section of the website provides details of various events that have been organised in the recent past which include:
- A wind quintet workshop;
- A private professional string quartet recital;
- Play-throughs of major works;
- A Verdi Requiem 'bring and sing';
- An introductory session on the Alexander Technique;
- Concert performances with solists;
- Commissions of new orchestral works;
- Attendance of professional orchestral rehearsals;
- A chamber music weekend; and
- A playday.
The committee organises an annual social event that is normally held each Spring.
