Play-Through of Major Works
The orchestral music repertoire contains many fantastic major works that are unsuited to the Endcliffe Orchestra due to either the size of ensemble required or the standard of musicianship necessary to achieve a standard worthy of performance. However, rather than deny members of the orchestra the experience to play through such works, the committee occasionally sets aside rehearsal sessions specifically to simply play-through particular pieces. Pieces that we have played through in the past include:
-
Brahms: 4th Symphony.
-
Dvorak: "New World" Symphony.
-
Mendelssohn: 4th Symphony.
-
Mendelssohn: "Fingal's Cave" Overture.
-
Sibelius: 2nd Symphony.
-
Tchaikovsky: "Pathetique" Symphony.
-
Wagner: "Mastersingers" Overture.
